Eye Examination
At Finan Opticians we are committed to providing you with the highest standard of eyecare. Our optometrists have expertise, experience and most importantly, time. A comprehensive eye examination, which includes retinal photography, will establish the health of your eyes and determine if visual correction is necessary. Many eye problems do not have immediate symptoms, so regular eye examinations are vital to ensure you can enjoy the best possible vision.

You may be eligible for a free NHS sight test or an optical voucher to reduce the cost of your spectacles or contact lenses.
Contact Lenses
Most people who need to wear glasses can wear contact lenses. Our Optometrists will help you decide on the best type of lens to suit your lifestyle, wearing time and visual requirements. It is important to have regular check-ups to ensure that your contact lenses are still suitable for you and are not damaging your eyes. It is recommended to have a contact lens check-up every 12 months.

NI PEARS
Finan Opticians are part of a scheme within the Western Health and Social Care Trust called NI PEARS (Northern Ireland Primary Eyecare Assessment and Referral Scheme).
​
NI PEARS enables patients that are experiencing the sudden onset of an eye problem to be assessed and managed by their local optometrist, rather than attending hospital eye casualty or their GP.
​
An appointment will be offered within 48 hours. The condition will be assessed and either treated in the practice, or if the condition is more serious a referral to the hospital eye service will be arranged.
​The service is intended for patients with sudden onset eye conditions such as:

red eye(s)
-
pain and/or discomfort in the eyes

sudden reduction in vision in one or both eyes
-
recent onset or sudden increase of flashes and/or floaters
-
suspected foreign body in the eye

Patient Eligibility

Patients must be registered with a GP in Northen Ireland
-
Patients must present with acute (sudden onset) eye related problems and NOT be due for a routine GOS sight test
-
Patients may normally only access one NI PEARS assessment and one follow-up assessment per year

Prescription Safety Eyewear & Sunglasses
Working in any type of industrial environment can pose potential risks. Machinery, chemicals, sparks or metal fragments can damage eyes irreparably.

Here at Finan's safety eyewear is specially designed to protect the eyes and our scratch-resistant safety lenses could help prevent a serious accident. As the safety glasses come with prescription lenses, they can be worn in place of your own spectacles.
Sunglasses are a great style accessory but investing in a quality pair is also integral to the health of your eyes. UV light from the sun can have a damaging effect upon our eyes, as it does upon our skin. Sunglasses play a vital role in protecting us from UV rays, it is important to choose a pair which offers 100% UV blockage.
At Finan’s we stock a wide range of high quality sunglass frames, including Rayban and Oakley. Most of our frames can also be glazed to your prescription with single vision, bi-focal, and varifocal lenses. We also stock a range of children’s sunglasses to protect your little ones eyes.
Spectacle Maintenance & Repairs
After wearing your glasses for a while, they might need a tune-up. Bring them in, just please don’t try it yourself, as we have special tools for it. Leave it to the experts! We are always happy to help.

If you have a problem with your spectacles, you can rely on our quick and reliable service to have them repaired and back in use. Simply bring your frames to our practice where we can assess the damage and advise you on the best way forward.
We have onsite facilities to carry out most repairs such as the replacement of screws, nose pads and realignment. With our experience and expertise we will always find a solution.
